Mr. President, It's Cold Outside

In 2000, when George W. was elected, I made certain decisions that were consistent with my view of the world. I expected a bellicose foreign policy, tax cuts, huge deficits, a weak dollar and the American standard of living to fall. I was not disappointed.

So, one of the decisions that I made was the purchase of oil stocks. Afterall, this was the all oil administration with Bush and Cheney. The oil industry took Bush and Cheney to the party and they sure as hell wanted to dance.

In case you're wondering, my oil stocks have doubled since 2001. Throw in the dividends, and the pain of a Bush victory is mitigated. I call it, my consolation prize. I wonder though, what is the consolation prize for all those moral values voters? Why buy the cow when you can have the milk for free?

Speaking of the high price of oil, all of you low to middle income Americans in Ohio, how about those heating bills huh? It's cold out isn't? How many of you Bush voters are asking for government assistance with your heating bills? If only we kept statistics like that.

President Bush has released only two thirds of the money that Congress has allocated to assist the poor with their heating bills. I'm sure that he is very busy.

For this couple, it was too late.

I wish I had had the money to invest in oil, too. I did have some Walmart stock, but ended up selling it to pay bills. As far as the heating problem, the wingnuts think you should be able to take care of yourself, no matter who or what you are. Too bad if you only make minimum wage. You should look for a better job. Too bad you have children, you should have thought about that before you started having sex... aaarrrghh!

Odd that you didn't mention Pharma stocks. Why not? Wasen't this administration supposed to be great for those evil drug companies? Why not a word?? Oh, thats right, those stocks cratered, crashed, damn near depression prices. Why not pick tech? Like Apple? It's run by a bunch of far left kooks like Steve Jobs. I own it, don't you??? Oh, thats right, its gone up 10 fold.

How very brilliant of you to figure out that a war in the Middle East would cause inflated oil prices. I don't think it takes a full time trader like myself to be able to enjoy the run up in oil stocks.

You know what? I did buy pharma stocks. I bought a pharma SPDR. I held it two years and it never moved, it was dead money so I sold it.

Thanks for caring.
